1. Information We Collect
We collect your phone number when you sign up using OTP authentication. We also collect your display name and profile photo if you choose to add them. We log app activity such as verses read, share events, and chat queries to personalise your experience and calculate streaks and karma points.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your phone number is used solely for authentication. We use activity data to maintain your streak, award karma points, and personalise your daily verse. We do not sell your data to any third party. Chat queries are processed by our AI service to generate Gita-based responses and are not stored permanently.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely on servers hosted by Railway (backend) and Google Firebase (web hosting). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using secure storage.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: Firebase (authentication and push notifications), Anthropic Claude (AI chat responses), Dodo Payments (payment processing for subscriptions). Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing their data handling.
5. Push Notifications
If you grant notification permission, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send your daily verse notification at 6 AM. You can disable notifications at any time from your device settings.
6. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@gitavaani.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
GitaVaani is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
