How to request deletion of your Gita Vaani account

Gita Vaani does not yet offer an in-app self-service deletion flow. To delete your Gita Vaani account and all associated data, email us from the address linked to your account (or include your registered phone number) and we will process the request for you.

1. Send an email to hello@gitavaani.app with the subject “Account Deletion Request — Gita Vaani”.
2. Include the phone number you used to sign in to the Gita Vaani app so we can locate your account.
3. We verify ownership of the account, then permanently delete it and confirm by email.

What data is deleted

When you request deletion of your Gita Vaani account, we permanently delete your profile (phone number, display name, profile photo), reading history, streaks, karma points, share events, chat queries, and any subscription records linked to your account. Your account itself is removed and cannot be recovered.

What data is retained, and for how long

We retain a minimal record of completed payments and invoices where tax and accounting law requires it (typically up to 8 years). These records are kept for legal compliance only, are not linked to an active Gita Vaani account, and are never used to identify or contact you. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics that cannot be traced back to you may also be retained.

How long it takes

We action deletion requests within 30 days of verifying your request, and backups containing your data are purged within a further 90 days. You will receive a confirmation email once your Gita Vaani account and data have been removed.
